About US
Arnleifur Icelandics is a ten-year effort created by couple, Aaron and Eva. Aaron is a 29-year Army Reserve pilot and 26-year police officer and pilot. Eva is a substitute teacher in both the public and private systems. We relax and gain peace from breeding the Icelandic Sheepdog.
One of Aaron's first overseas Army missions as an officer and helicopter pilot was to Iceland in 1999. It was on that trip that he fell in love with Iceland's history, geography, weather, and culture. Icelandic Sheepdogs would chase his helicopter. During one mission, his flight was forced to land in Iceland's northern high country. He and another pilot had to walk in subfreezing temperatures over 18 miles to find help. An adventure that sealed his love of Iceland, and helped prepare him for a number of long combat tours in later years.
After his first tour in Iraq, it was time to move the family and prepare the children for another year without dad. While researching a family and child-friendly dog, Eva found the Icelandic Sheepdog. She located Runestone Icelandics in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Elaine and Runestone Icelandics have been generous and essential mentors to Arnleifur Icelandics.
Our goal in breeding is to carefully grow, perpetuate and spread the love of the Icelandic Sheepdog breed. We hope to share the joy with other families looking for an intelligent and attentive dog. Our kennel is a hobby and passion. The proper breeding, health, and well-being of our dogs, and the placement of Arnleifur puppies are of foremost concern.
We are sure you will fall in love with the Icelandic Sheepdog as any ‘Icie’ owner already has.
